The Gifts of Others - Travis

Today a co-worker of mine, A.J., brought me four garbage bags full of baby boy clothes. Lindsay and I have just finished sorting them by size/age and color. I do worry that many of you are probably looking forward to buying the cutest little outfits, but I'll warn you now that we are very close to not needing anymore, so you'll have to buy boring stuff like diapers.

the reason why our blog has been so boring lately

Everything is ok, the baby is fine, I'm fine, and God loves me for reasons I can't always explain.

Baby Room Coming Along -Travis

Crib and bedding provided by Amy:

And a small Smattering of his wardrobe - compliments of Robin. (Yes we have already selected what he will wear home from the hospital. But for fear of someone stealing our idea we are keeping it under wraps.)

Some of my in-laws will no doubt notice that I had to turn some of the clothes around on their hangers to get them all facing the camera. Do not worry I turned them back around before putting them in the closet.

And just like with the wedding now that there is nothing left to do we wait. One more vote for procrastination.

Christmas in April

When I got home last night, this was in my living room. We've been wanting one of these for a while now. Just because, he says!

Then, this morning, he mows the lawn and makes it look pretty. That may not have been done out of love, but rather, to keep up with the Jones's. We no longer have the ugliest lawn on the cul-de-sac.

P.S. We're wondering...how do you pluralize the name "Jones"?

Thanks to Jerry, who took these off the ultrasound DVD, you can all see our baby boy! During the ultrasound, he was trying so hard to get his thumb in his mouth. It was too cute. Enjoy!

fun times

I've done nothing to deserve the greatness in my life! The past two days were like a really good ice cream cone- so yummy and good, but it melts way too fast.

Thursday was my day - we woke up, got showers and went in search of a lawn mower. Didn't find one that was cheap enough for Travis, so he bought a weed eater and said he'd just weed-eat the whole yard. Ok - that's fine. We made our way back to the house and packed a picnic of sandwiches, chips and rice krispy treats. Then we drove down to the RiverPark and walked, ate our picnic, and read in the sun. Travis had scheduled a racquetball game with his friend, so we had to cut the time outside a little short and go to the gym. I got a leg workout in, while he kicked Ian's butt in the court. When we finally got home, exhausted, we took our second shower of the day, ate dinner and watched the new Jesse James movie (which was pretty good).

Friday was Travis' day. The forecast called for rain all day (even though it didn't start until like 5pm) so I thought that this would be a perfect Travis day because to him, laying around, resting, and never leaving the house is heaven. I DO need these days because it's very hard for me to stay put all day and not do anything outside. My dad (who practically lives outside) would always find us in the house and make us get out and play or do work. I almost feel guilty if I've wasted a day inside, instead of walking or doing yard work. Anyhow, we did go outside in the morning because Travis had to weed-eat the entire yard. God bless him, but the lawn looks pretty disturbing. The grass is cut in very uneven patterns, similar to what four-year olds look like when they've taken scissors to their bangs. He now concurs that we should get a mower. After that, we got showered and into our pj's. For the rest of the day, we hung pictures, put books in my new bookshelf, cooked, watched Sopranos, danced in the kitchen, cleaned out some of the nursery and just relaxed. The best part of the day was when it started pouring rain. We layed down in our guest room with the window open and Travis continued reading Prince Caspian to the baby and I.

He is so perfect - he even does the voices. So now it's Saturday and all I can think about is next Thursday when we can do our thing again.

We finally know the sex

Here's the clue. :

Actually, we can't find out for another week but I (Travis) just wanted to know if anyone out there saw this picture and didn't assume it was a girl.

For the last 19 weeks, I've been told that even though we don't know what it is yet we can still buy stuff as long as it's yellow. (To be fair these are some of the more masculine ducks that have been presented as uni-sex.)

God Is AMAZING

I'm sitting on the couch, watching an America's Next Top Model rerun, and I start to feel the fluttering that has been going on in my belly for a week now. I gently push on different places and then, this amazing little person poked me back, three times in a row.

Immediate feelings of gratitude flood over me. God is so good and so willing to give. Thank you, Lord, for Your daily gifts.

family

This weekend was so refreshing. saturday, I drove home and found my sister baking strawberry rhubarb and apple pies, along with a knockout chocolate birthday cake for my mom. She wouldn't let me taste anything:( Camila, Amanda, Ric and I went for a walk on the greenway. It was such a beautiful day, sunny and I had sun-kissed cheeks afterwards. Easter morning, we ate a fantastic breakfast at the Wright's - church was great. In the afternoon, I took one of those naps where you don't really sleep and it would have been better if you had never laid down in the first place. Our first annual Wright family soccer game woke me up AND I scored two goals. To end the day, we ate Easter dinner at Amy's house and I finally got to taste my sissy's creations. A great weekend.

ready to post

I've been out of commission for the last week, but now I'm back and ok. For out-of-towners, my first cousin, Patrick, died on Saturday (cause unknown as of now). He was only 26 and it was a huge surprise to everyone. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Death is so incomprehensible most of the time. It is hard to really understand God's plan, but trust that He ALWAYS has one. The only way that I can justify Patrick's death is that God will take one life to save two lives. Someone has to take this tragedy as an incentive to get off drugs, or get saved, or reprioritize their life, or tell others what they mean to them. His death can't be wasted.

the service will be at Prentiss Church of God, across from South Macon School.
