Baby Update

So I've now entered the phase where I am going to the doctor every 2 weeks. I had my appointment yesterday and the doctor said that Henry is perfect. She says to look at me, she would put me at 6 months (I'm 8), but that Henry is a "big baby". I am so thrilled because I was a little worried that I wasn't getting big enough. I've only gained 7 pounds but she doesn't seem to think that this is a problem. She also said that he is already head-down!

We scheduled our 4D ultrasound at Southwestern for July 17th, 8:30AM. If anyone wants to come, let me know, we will try to squeeze as many people as we can in the room. If you know anyone whose pregnant, let them know that between 28-32 weeks, you can get a 4D ultrasound for $5 at SCC! That's amazing because they are like $200 anywhere else.

One more thing - invitations go out this week for our baby shower. If you read this blog and don't get one, you are certainly invited!! It will be Sunday, July 27th - 2-4pm drop-by at Macon County Library's conference room. Feel free to come by and eat some yummy cake and shower foods (courtesy of Katy and Camila).

Much Needed Vacation

Well, we got back from Destin without a scratch on our head or a drain on our wallet (thank you, Mom & Dad!). If you've never been to a beach on the gulf coast, go, because the beaches are just spectacular.

On Saturday, we left Chattanooga as soon as Travis got off work around 5 and drove until about midnight. We stayed the week in a friend's condominium right on the beach - 3 bedroom, 3 bath, pool, sauna, gym. I would write about each day and what we did, but that would get rather monotonous considering our routine consisted of laying in the sun, reading, walking on the beach, napping and eating whatever we wanted all week, every day. I will include some highlights though:

*Somehow we managed to not take a single family photo all week - sorry.
*Mom actually won at a game of Rummikub.
*We went to the driving range and hit loads of balls. I found out that I am very bad at golf - I blame it on my belly for getting in the way :)
*My family loves sugar apparently - EVERY NIGHT we somehow managed to find ourselves at Kilwin's, a chocolate/ice cream shop, where we must have collectively spent $50 throughout the week. Yum!
*We went sea-kayaking! We saw a dolphin and a couple of sharks. So so much fun until you get stung by a jellyfish and your sister has to pee on your leg. 'Nuff said.
*I got Travis to take a walk on the beach with me everyday at least once, sometimes twice.

Travis and I had a goal of reconnecting and almost taking a second honeymoon - we succeeded and then some! It was a much needed vacation before Henry comes and our focus shifts a little. I am so very thankful for the time we got to spend with each other and with our family. From the comments that were made, I'm thinking that this trip will become an annual event (add one baby next year!).

My Newest Brother - Travis

Here is a video sent to my parents from china of the latest addition to my family, Andy. This is the video of him recieving the care package my mother made up and sent him. Lindsay's favorite part is when someone points to a family picture and says, "Yes they are a very close family."

I did cut down 3 mintues of this video to make the file half it's original size. I apologize if I cut anyones favorite parts. I tried to choose parts either that I couldn't understand or that Andy was not in the frame.

Not trying anymore

The air is on! I'm happy.

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

i'm trying

Travis has this thing every year where he sees how long we can go without turning the air conditioning on. I'm not quite sure if other families make this a "competition" like the Travis Wrights' do, but it is starting to kill me! There have been days lately where the temperature in the house has gotten up to 84 degrees! I actually paid $5 to see a movie I really didn't want to see just to sit in an air conditioned space for 2 hours!!! T says if it gets up to 85 we can turn it on (and set it to 82). Any other time, I might be a little more flexible, but I'm entering into the swollen, miserable phase and this is getting hard.

Does anyone else think this is crazy?

Flipping Through the Channels

What should we find:

Puppy Bowl IV -- Puppies cavort in a play area that looks like a football stadium in the fourth annual event that offers an alternative to the Super Bowl.

Just in case you worry you might miss it, this is a 2 HOUR special!

The Gifts of Others - Travis

Today a co-worker of mine, A.J., brought me four garbage bags full of baby boy clothes. Lindsay and I have just finished sorting them by size/age and color. I do worry that many of you are probably looking forward to buying the cutest little outfits, but I'll warn you now that we are very close to not needing anymore, so you'll have to buy boring stuff like diapers.

the reason why our blog has been so boring lately

Everything is ok, the baby is fine, I'm fine, and God loves me for reasons I can't always explain.

Baby Room Coming Along -Travis

Crib and bedding provided by Amy:

And a small Smattering of his wardrobe - compliments of Robin. (Yes we have already selected what he will wear home from the hospital. But for fear of someone stealing our idea we are keeping it under wraps.)

Some of my in-laws will no doubt notice that I had to turn some of the clothes around on their hangers to get them all facing the camera. Do not worry I turned them back around before putting them in the closet.

And just like with the wedding now that there is nothing left to do we wait. One more vote for procrastination.

Christmas in April

When I got home last night, this was in my living room. We've been wanting one of these for a while now. Just because, he says!

Then, this morning, he mows the lawn and makes it look pretty. That may not have been done out of love, but rather, to keep up with the Jones's. We no longer have the ugliest lawn on the cul-de-sac.

P.S. We're wondering...how do you pluralize the name "Jones"?

Thanks to Jerry, who took these off the ultrasound DVD, you can all see our baby boy! During the ultrasound, he was trying so hard to get his thumb in his mouth. It was too cute. Enjoy!

fun times

I've done nothing to deserve the greatness in my life! The past two days were like a really good ice cream cone- so yummy and good, but it melts way too fast.

Thursday was my day - we woke up, got showers and went in search of a lawn mower. Didn't find one that was cheap enough for Travis, so he bought a weed eater and said he'd just weed-eat the whole yard. Ok - that's fine. We made our way back to the house and packed a picnic of sandwiches, chips and rice krispy treats. Then we drove down to the RiverPark and walked, ate our picnic, and read in the sun. Travis had scheduled a racquetball game with his friend, so we had to cut the time outside a little short and go to the gym. I got a leg workout in, while he kicked Ian's butt in the court. When we finally got home, exhausted, we took our second shower of the day, ate dinner and watched the new Jesse James movie (which was pretty good).

Friday was Travis' day. The forecast called for rain all day (even though it didn't start until like 5pm) so I thought that this would be a perfect Travis day because to him, laying around, resting, and never leaving the house is heaven. I DO need these days because it's very hard for me to stay put all day and not do anything outside. My dad (who practically lives outside) would always find us in the house and make us get out and play or do work. I almost feel guilty if I've wasted a day inside, instead of walking or doing yard work. Anyhow, we did go outside in the morning because Travis had to weed-eat the entire yard. God bless him, but the lawn looks pretty disturbing. The grass is cut in very uneven patterns, similar to what four-year olds look like when they've taken scissors to their bangs. He now concurs that we should get a mower. After that, we got showered and into our pj's. For the rest of the day, we hung pictures, put books in my new bookshelf, cooked, watched Sopranos, danced in the kitchen, cleaned out some of the nursery and just relaxed. The best part of the day was when it started pouring rain. We layed down in our guest room with the window open and Travis continued reading Prince Caspian to the baby and I.

He is so perfect - he even does the voices. So now it's Saturday and all I can think about is next Thursday when we can do our thing again.

We finally know the sex

Here's the clue. :

Actually, we can't find out for another week but I (Travis) just wanted to know if anyone out there saw this picture and didn't assume it was a girl.

For the last 19 weeks, I've been told that even though we don't know what it is yet we can still buy stuff as long as it's yellow. (To be fair these are some of the more masculine ducks that have been presented as uni-sex.)
