This is harder than it looks
For 3 1/2 straight hours today, my son nursed. I had all of these plans made for going on a walk and going to the store, but we were stuck here all day. Every time I thought he was done, I would take him off and then he would act hungry and fussy again. This went on for forever. Fellow breastfeeding mothers - did your babies go through growth spurts? periods of times when you child ate constantly? I'm so exhausted. Hopefully the rest of the night goes better. Prayers are welcomed.

Here is my 2 cents you can take or leave it :) They do go through growth spurts where they will eat more frequently but not constantly for that long...even though nursing him might soothe him a lot of times he is not really hungry...he may be crying because of gas or something else...first try everything (passy, rocking, laying him on his tummy to get the gas out, etc) before you let him nurse again or else you are going to be really sore!! I will be praying that things get a little more regulated for you and cute little Henry!
I second Emily! My 3-week old is going through a growth spurt right now... so I know exactly what you mean!
In my experience (nursing my 6th now), they do much better if they have a chance for the milk to digest in between feedings. In practicality, I offer as much nursing as they want for about an hour, then wait an hour before offering it again. Most babies can be pacified by being held, a pacifier, a bath, going outside, listening to the shower (or dryer or vacuum...), or SOMETHING for an hour, then they are really ready to nurse again. I finally figured out about a week ago that this infant needs to cry for about 5 minutes in order to be able to relax enough to go to sleep - at least once a day. Not all babies need that, but William does.
I know you are enjoying Henry so much - I've enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading the posts! :)
Just on the breastfeeding/soreness aspect of it, I started both of them on the bottle early, because it was just WAY to sore to breastfeed exclusively (I would alternate bottle and breast feedings). I would pump the milk for them so that they were not on formula. I could go out of the house and bring the bottle with me... and them getting used to the bottle helped out a ton later when we had babysitters. And Andrew could feed them too while I rested : ) It worked out wonderfully!
